The Official Fairy Guide

Getting Started

First, unpack your starter kit. Inside you will find 2 starter gems, a food flower and a redelivery stump. First check your current active group is set to the group that has land rez rights, then rez your food flower near the center of the area you want your fairies to roam, next rez your gems near the flower.

Next click a gem and you will be presented with a menu on whether to birth your gem. Select YES for an animesh version (26LI) or Static for a static version (4LI). Once your fairy rezzes, it will set it's "Home Position" and have a range of 3.0 meters. Click your fairy, if you wish to change the home position, move it to where you want it's home position first. You can set the range via the menu. Whilst static fairies do not move, their home position and range are important as it determines whether their food bowls are reachable. (that is, the food bowl must be within range of the fairies home position). If you have animesh fairies you can unfreeze them and they will roam and animate.

Breeding

Once your fairy is 10 days old, it can start breeding. All glitter grove fairies are female who with the help of a partner magic gems into existance. That means, there is no defined 2 genders, so any fairy can "breed" with any other fairy. Once hitting age 10 fairies will seek a partner and rez a gem every 5 days, until age 120 when they retire.

Traits

Your starter fairies will contain a random selection of starter traits. To get new traits, you will need to breed fairies with the same trait at least 3 generations. Not all traits give new traits, but those with the possibilitiy will be announced. Sometimes, on special occasions, you may get a Special gem. This special gem will contain unique traits, some of which pass, some which pass other traits,

Happiness

Fed fairies are happy, however if they run out of food to eat and they get very hungry, they will become flat, then sad, then depressed. Only happy fairies breed - flat, sad and depressed fairies will need to be fed and become happy again before they will breed.

Once a fairy's hunger reaches 100% the fairy will gain unhappiness at the rate of 1% every hour.

To gain happiness feed the fairy and while the fairy remains below 100% hunger it will gain happiness at a rate of 1% every 30 minutes. Depressed fairies are 100% unhappy, sad fairies between 50% and 100% and flat fairies between 1% and 50%

Redeliveries & Updating

Sometimes Second Life may eat your fairy, as it sometimes has an appetite for NO-COPY objects. In this case, you can redeliver your fairy using a Redelivery Stump. Redelivery stumps can be obtained from XS-Pets.

To send a lost fairy for redelivery (in the case where you can't find, or no longer have the fairy) go to your web portal, find the fairy and click the redelivery checkbox, then click redeliver lives button. You can then copy the redelivery code and paste it into the dialog of your Redelivery stump (Touch Menu -> Live Fairies -> Get 1).

In the case of an update, new redelivery stumps will be issued, and updating your fairies can be done via the redelivery system. Fairies and gems can be sent for redelivery via their touch menu, or via the web portal, Starter gems can not be redelivered.

Gathering

Gatheringis shared with all Glitter Grove breedables, and is a system that allows you to harvest virtual resources which can be used with blueprints to obtain special items. There are currently three types of gathering: Mining, Foresting and Gardening.

Each type of gathering requires a tool, and a novice tool for each type is available for free in the Glitter Grove area of the XS Pets region. Novice tools are slow, but get you started. Once you have a tool, you should attach it to your right hand, then find a corresponding harvest node and click it. You will perform an action on the node, and may or may not be successful. When successful, you may be awarded either a virtual item, which goes into your Glitter Grove server inventory, or an inworld item that you can rez.

Virtual items are items which are used to craft things, inworld items are other things - for example blue prints, special rewards etc. To view your virtual inventory, you can use the web portal for your chosen Glitter Grove pet (log in to your portal, and select "Inventory" from the portal dropdown menu) or you can use an inworld Glitter Grove inventory checker.

Retirement

Fairies retire at age 120. They will no longer breed, they will also no longer need food.
